Fintech has long been a boom market, with many firms riding successive funding rounds to ever-higher valuations.

But the tighter regulatory landscape and the global economic downturn pressures demanding fintechs to revise their business models, has resulted in the right market conditions to encourage an increase in merger and acquisitions (M&A) activity. 

Looking to help their customers in uncertain economic times, acquiring companies are now positioning themselves to more easily grant access to loans and capital, as well as reducing and eliminating any additional fees for their customers. 

Ultimately, the market has bifurcated into firms that have seen profitable returns, and those who must search for capital through other means. Acquisition by a larger company could be the answer.
